The Turkish Arbitrators Association has been founded in order to contribute to the development of arbitration in Türkiye, to raise the ethical, scholarly and professional standards of arbitrators, to broaden the use of national and international arbitration practice, and to foster solidarity among arbitrators. The association is seated in Ankara.
The association was founded by eleven founding members. Until the organs of the association are constituted at the first general assembly, an interim board of five members represents the association. Priorities for the first term
Work in the first term will concentrate on four areas. First, rules will be drafted on ethical principles and training standards for arbitrators. Second, channels of cooperation will be established with institutions active in the field, in particular the Department of Arbitration within the General Directorate of Legal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, the Insurance Arbitration Commission and the Istanbul Arbitration Centre.
Third, a descriptive directory of members will be compiled and published on this site in respect of those members who consent to publication. Fourth, promotional and cooperative work will begin towards the choice of Türkiye as the seat of arbitration and of Turkish law as the applicable law in disputes with a foreign element.
Membership applications
Individual arbitrators who are listed on the panel of an institutional arbitration centre, or who have served as arbitrator in at least one arbitration, may apply for full membership. Applications may be made through the form on the membership page or on the signed paper form.
